The living room is the place most visited by outsiders. Therefore, indirectly the living room will reflect the merits of the nature and habits of the household.

The living room is often interpreted as a layover space and intermediate space for meeting guests and homeowners. Meanwhile, the living room has a direct link with the entrance to the house that connects a person from the environment to the outside environment, and vice verse. The living room is dingy, cramped, and dirty, would be a bad atmosphere to refract incoming sustenance.

1. For a large house, living room should not be too narrow. 2. For a small house, living room does not be too broad. When this happens, usually the bedroom and other rooms have a very narrow size. Without a Living Room

Some homes are intentionally not providing a living room, so guests are placed on the front porch of the house. This design was adopted from the thought which considers the home as a private area that does not need to be touched or seen by outsiders.
